The 2009 Blown Alcohol Challenge was the first round of the 2009/2010 Rocket Allstars Racing Series and the points totals have started to mount with many of the championship favourites scoring well at the Queensland-based event. The Rocket Allstars Racing Series now heads to Western Sydney International Dragway and tours the country before the final championship deciding round at the 2010 Castrol Edge Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway in June.

South Queensland competitor, Graeme Frawley, has taken his skills from Group 3 racing into the index-based Group 2 format, with his maiden win in RARS Competition. Frawley managed to beat another local, Jason Maggs, who had a wild finals run in his supercharged Ford Mustang. Perennial front runner Justin Walshe made the semi finals, whilst Shane Baxter, Aaron Burge and Ash Hamblin all opened their accounts with 40 points.

In RARS Super Stock, Alex Panagiotidis took out his second event in a row, with the South Australian racer continuing his good form from the end of last season. Panagiotidis defeated West Aussie Graeme Simms in a small-cube Super Stock final, with both competitors taking resetting National Records en route. Cavallo and Sedmak made the semis to round out the top four championship placings.

New South Welshman Geoff Kempe is once again atop the points in RARS Competition Bike but the battle for event win and points lead was tightly fought, with South Queenslander Shane Homes pushing Kempe all the way. Dave Rundmann is always in the points and his semi final appearance sees him in third place ahead of Pennington and Marshall.

Bill Fletcher heads the points in the tightly contested RARS Supercharged Outlaws bracket after a near faultless performance at the season’s opener. Fletcher got the win over Rodgie in the final. Peirano is a name closely associated with the Outlaws bracket and Nathan is currently in third position ahead of Hanson, Easton and Leifting.

It was a triumph for the lady racers in RARS Modified with Kelly Corbett using her big block dragster to good effect to take the event and the Championship lead. The top of the points table is an all South Queensland affair with Zelo in outright second ahead of Telford and Radford.
Dinmore’s Darren Doeblien powered to victory in RARS Super Sedan in his BF Ford Falcon. Doeblien took the win over a tenacious
Anthony Whyatt of Barellon in the final. Blaze Hanson made a semi final in his first event out of a Junior Dragster, whilst at the other end of his career, George Wegner also made the semi finals to join Hanson on 60 points.

It was Alex Buxton who took maximum points away in RARS Modified Bike after defeating Brian Vernon into second place in the final run of the night. Alberto Marquez has started the season well with 60 points ahead of Roberts, Brookes and Shepherd on 40.

Round one featured a strong entry list for RARS Super Street and Lucas Holz was the best of them on the day, winning the maximum 100 points. Christine Kilmeister ended the event as runner up and heads Williams and Curran, with another lady racer, Terri Sander also getting amongst the points.
Dale Duffy took on and defeated all before him in RARS Junior Dragster. With father Peter looking on, Dale scored a victory of New South Wales racer, Simone Paine in the final. Obe Ward, Ben Jones and Joshua Taylor round out the top five.
Victorian, Graeme Spencer took a well deserved victory for the seasoned campaigner in RARS Super Gas. Spencer had to beat the big names in the category to get the win, defeating Neil Maxwell in the final. Last year’s champion Darryl Stephen made the semis as well as another New South Wales star, Joe Catanzariti. Gouldie, Moran and Boyde are all locked on 40 points.
