The annual Rocket Open Day has become a popular event on Sydney’s hot rod calendar and the most recent affair in November 2010 was no exception. The Open Day is a chance for Rocket to showcase its growing range of hot rod components and merchandise and the warehouse is set up for group tours which run throughout the morning. One look inside has you in awe of the incredible quantity of stock on hand, from crate engines, speed components, wheels and tyres and even sprint car chassis. The viewing public also had the chance to sign up the the Rocket VIP club and recieve a 2011 Performance Catalogue as well has have a Rocket poster signed by the lovely Rocket girls, Emma, Jess and Katrina.
Outside the party was in full swing with a car park and surrounding streets jam-packed with Sydney’s coolest, lowest and loudest hot rods and muscle cars. Waiting in the wings were a selection of race cars lying in wait for one thing – the cacklefest. Among them were the front engined dragsters of Norm Longfield and Ross Preen the much anticipated Cowin & Johns “Psycho III ” blown hemi altered. Holding ranks in front of the Rocket Industries building, the cars were fired and that coveted cackle sound amplified by the solid structure behind them and it was beyond loud! With an awesome roll out of vehicles, free food and drinks, lots of cool people and a couple of fair-dinkum cacklefests thrown in, the Rocket Open Day is a must see. |
